Annotated Instructor's Edition

The Annotated Instructor's Edition provides immediate access directly on the page to the answers to all exercises. In addition, an answer section at the back of both the Student's and Instructor's editions gives answers to odd-numbered section exercises and answers to all chapter test exercises. Writing exercises are marked with a pencil icon in the AIE only so that instructors may use discretion in assigning these problems.

TestGen-EQ/QuizMaster-EQ CD-ROM

This powerful test-generation software is provided on a dual-platform Windows/Macintosh CD-ROM. TestGen-EQ's friendly, graphical interface enables instructors to easily view, edit, and add questions, transfer questions to tests, and print tests in a variety of fonts and forms. Search and sort features help the instructor locate questions quickly and arrange them in a preferred order. Several question formats are available, including short-answer, true/false, multiple-choice, essay, and matching. A built-in question editor allows the instructor to create graphs, import graphics, and insert variable numbers, text, and mathematical symbols and templates. Computerized test banks include algorithmically defined problems organized according to the textbook. Instructors can create and export practice tests into HTML for use on the World Wide Web. Using QuizMaster-EQ, instructors can post tests and quizzes created in TestGen to a computer network so that students can take them on-line. Instructors can set preferences for how and when tests are administered. QuizMaster automatically grades the exams and allows the instructor to view or print a variety of reports for individual students, classes, or courses.

PowerPoint Presentations and Adobe Acrobat Tables and Forms

Instructors can customize chapter presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint; presentations can also be run with PowerPoint Viewer, which is free downloadable software available from Microsoft's Web site, www.microsoft.com.

Used in conjunction with the InterAct Math Tutorial Software (0-321-06917-X), this networkable software provides instructors with full course-management capabilities for tracking and reporting student use of the tutorial software. The InterAct Math Tutorial Software, provided on a dual-platform Windows/Macintosh CD-ROM, has been developed by software engineers working closely with a team of experienced math instructors. The software provides exercises that correspond to each section-level objective in the text; these exercises require the same computational and problem-solving skills as the section exercises in the book. Each InterAct exercise is accompanied by an example and an interactive guided solution designed to involve students in the solution process and help them identify precisely where they are having trouble. For each section of the text, the software tracks student activity and scores, which can be printed out in summary form.

MathXL

MathXL is a Web-based testing and tutorial system that allows students to take practice tests similar to the chapter tests in their book. MathXL generates a personalized study plan that indicates students' strengths and pinpoints topics where they need more practice. The program then provides the practice and instruction students need to improve their skills. The user's test scores and practice sessions are tracked by the program so that students can monitor their progress throughout the semester. The MathXL Web site requires each student to purchase a user ID and login password.
