Web Application Chapter 2 page 51

Keyword: do-it-yourself Primary URL: www.homedepot.com

Dennis Wade wants to replace the seven worn-out steps of his outdoor deck. He is not an experienced carpenter but considers his carpentry skills to be average. Not sure of the materials needed for this project, he consults www.homedeopt.com. Once there, Dennis is not exactly sure where to go, but he selects "Fix It." He is impressed; the next site actually has a Fix-It category for decks. Selecting "Decks" and scrolling down on this page, he selects "Steps." Not only does he find a detailed list of the materials needed but also a breakdown of how long the project will take to complete. Using this information, answer the following questions.

  1. Approximately how many hours will it take Wade to replace the seven deck steps?

  2. If Wade stopped after replacing five of the seven steps, how many hours did he work?

  3. If it would take an experienced carpenter forty-five minutes to replace one step, how long would it take to replace seven steps?

Please show your work. Look for indicators (Chapter 1) to help solve the problems.
