Web Application Chapter 8 page 347

Keyword: yen Primary URL: quote.yahoo.com

That will be 122.60 Yen or 1,207.00 Won, please. Banking in the Global market has challenges, one being currency exchange. There is a way to manually calculate exchange rates, but it is much easier to start at a currency conversion page, like the one found on the quote.yahoo.com Web site. Once there, click on World Markets, then Currency Exchange (or type in: www.quote.yahoo.com/m5?a=1&s=USD&t=KRW). This interactive site allows currency amounts to be entered and exchange rates are then automatically calculated.

For example, a car purchased on May 14, 1999 for $18,000 American dollars would cost 32,707,259.03 Lira if purchased in Italy. The specific date is used because currency exchange rates change. Go shopping, enter in different American dollar amounts, and check out how U.S. currency is converted to other monetary systems.

Did you know there is a World Bank? Go to the Web site www.worldbank.org/html/extdr/whoowns.htm and answer the following questions based on information gathered at this site.
